professional history
I started my career in 1997 as a sales representative for an aviation software firm called Avantext Inc. The company provided aviation documentation to mechanics. My job was to contact customers and upsell products and specials. At the time, everyone in the company took it upon themselves to learn new software. The computer I was using had Photoshop installed and I began to teach myself the basics of image editing. Within a few months, I started creating images that caught the eye of the company President. In 1998 I was promoted to Marketing Assistant.
In 1999 I was promoted to Marketing Coordinator. In addition to designing graphics for marketing materials and multimedia packaging, I was now responsible for print buying, implementing a complete advertising schedule, and coordinating all trade show activities. The next three years were a blur of activity. In the Fall of 2001, the aviation industry was turned upside down by the September 11th terrorist attacks. Avantext went through major budget cutbacks and over half of the company lost their jobs.
A colleague and I decided to join forces and start our own design firm by the name of Pagoda Media. For the next seven years, Pagoda Media would produce many memorable logo designs, web sites, and print graphics. In 2005, Pagoda Media was awarded designer of the month by Creative Public and in 2006, Pagoda Media rocked the micro-brewing industry with cutting edge packaging design for Legacy Brewing Company creating a national stir.
It was March of 2008 when I decided to offer my consulting services on a freelance basis. The primary focus of Pagoda Media was to produce high-end design projects for print and web. As BMull Consulting, I can help businesses create a professional image and provide direction on how to blend traditional and "new school" marketing techniques.
